Which energy-efficient transformers does EREA offer?
Rising energy costs make it increasingly interesting to choose an energy-efficient transformer over a standard model. This is why EREA offers various solutions for this. First, there is the SPT/BTE range, which are industrial transformers. Then there is also the PVT range. This is specially developed for PV installations, but is also suitable for other applications. For electric vehicle charging stations, the EC and ECT ranges are available.
The main difference between the industrial SPT/BTE on the one hand and the PVT, EC and ECT on the other is in the inrush current. The SPT/BTE transformers are designed for industrial applications and therefore have a higher inrush current. This means that the fuse and cabling on the primary side must be heavier. In contrast, the PVT and EC(T) series are built to have a lower inrush current, so they can be powered up at their rated current without problems. This is especially important in residential electrical installations.
However, using energy-efficient transformers can save a lot on energy costs, as well as contribute to a more sustainable and greener environment.
